Hi Everyone I wish to create some new pallets for my MAC500 fixtures.
First case - I can make it on the desk, but can't add it permanently to personality file on desk. So when I make some pallets, then copy personality to USB Stick and check it on Personality Builder, they aren't there.
Second case - I wish to create them on the base of MAC500 personality file, add my pallets in Builder and save as my version of this personality, let say, as MAC500v2.R20. But, I can't even start becouse when I'm trying to open oryginal personality i get error like this:
I have newest Personality Builder version, Pearl Tiger, Windows 7.
Any one can help ?

Yeah, there is one line missing in Range 5/Gobo 2. Amongst other things, this error occurs when a range is not complete.

Maybe the quickest thing is if you edit this in a text editor. Open the file with e.g. notepad, and find the lines (around line 289)


There, insert one line for the range 0~9, like so:


Save this. Now you can edit it in personality builder.

Looking, searching and nothing, so ... Can someone create some manual how to make paletts in Personality Builder ? I can only create auto pallets and thats all. How to create 20 or 30 color pallets, 15 positions and 10 gobo paletts ? In text editor ?

Don't know why it doesn't work in personality builder - but then, this is designed for d4 personalities in the first place. Now you're familiar with editing this with a text editor - this is not very elegant, but the far quicker way.

Open the file in notepad or such, and find the section (around line 161 - there are similar sections for positions and gobos)


This is the place where you can insert you own palettes; the first line defines the attributes affected (in that case, colour 1 and 2).

Then, each line defines one palette: Palette name, palette number, and hex values for both affected attributes. Easiest way would be to set the values with the desk and the real fixture, read it from the desk, and then write it into the file.

Please know that by default palettes 1~10 are colour, 11~20 are gobo, and 21~30 are positions - this defines the position on the desk handles.

I believe (but not for sure) that one of the classic manuals has an appendix describing this.

The text editor side of r20 personalities, including palettes, is covered in all Classic manuals.

To create your own palettes in Personality Builder you must first use one of the palette templates to create a palette group - for example 'C-Mix Standard'. But from here you can, if you wish, delete all the automatically created palettes (if any) and add your own. To do this select the relevant attribute on the left, then choose 'Current Functions' tab at the top right. You can then double-click or drag functions into the group to create a palette and then drag additional functions to this palette if required.

Once done everything can be edited, so the group name, attributes and values used initially are largely irrelevant other than to provide a structure.

That's my MAC 500 personality file with added paletts, if someone would like to use it.
I have one more question, how to set "Fixture" to automatic. I think about taking names when i sellect mac 500, press FOCUS button and then I don't have my palett name or palett page name but just simply Page 1 <No Name> Palete 1 <No Name>. I had to to go to Options Fixture Type and change from all to MAC 500. Why it does not change automaticly ?
