Titan LED's not clearing attributes

Postby Billyserious » 25 Jun 2011, 00:05

Im having some difficulty dealing with some clunky programming lately with some LED lights, specifically the Robe Light4ce series.

If I enter them in as fixtures, locating them seems to be just fine, but clearing out the programmer doesnt reset the last color attribute that was recorded.

For instance, if I try and save a red HTP playback, I will Bring up the intensity (more on that in a sec), then the red, then switch G,B and W to off. Record, Clear, Clear exit, etc.

Then Ill go back to do the green, but the red channel will already be at full, so Ill have to zero it out first. Now, thats not that big of a deal, but it can be if there's an on the fly change where I need to merge a playback or something fast, so Im just wondering if that is an intended feature.

Also, why does it add the intensity channel automatically if I select a 4 channel RGBW fixture, seems like an extra step that isnt necessarily easy.

Ive been frustrated enough by some of the programming that Ive just done dimmer channels for each color, but I dont like doing that because it makes the shape generator and other things more clunky.

thoughts or advice on making the LED programming process more streamlined?

Currently Titan can only treat dimmer as HTP.

Therefore RGBW channels are LTP and it is correct that they stay at the last value until changed. Clearing should only deselect/clear programmer.

This can be an issue if you wanted additive colour mixing from playbacks although this can be partially overcome with mode 2. But regarding programming I don't see the problem - you wouldn't expect a CMY fixture to clear its colour values back to white on clear.

If you really wanted it you can tell the personality file to set specific values on clear but I don't recommend this since it would mean the fixtures would switch to those values on any occasion they were selected and cleared, even if you had a colour running from a playback.
Sometimes it is useful to setup a macro to set all colour channels to zero to help programming multi-cell fixtures although there are new solutions for these coming in v5.
