Problems with my azure shadow

Postby theisbr » 24 Jan 2011, 16:03

I am having some odd problems with the Azure Shadow console that is used at our church. The console was purchased and installed in the fall of 2007 so as far as I know it has the latest software version as there since there have been no updates. We run our console in the "Theatre Stack" Mode.

So the first problem I have occurs when I create chases with more than 10 steps. When I go and and change the speed via the "Connect". All seems to work fine until I select "Chase Menu", "Parameters", and save the speed. At that point, step 10 disappears. When I go to unfold the chase, there is just a blank space where step 10 should be. No step can be inserted into that spot, it is just dead space. Also, after step 10 disappears, I can no longer copy and paste that chase to a different playback button, unless I do a "linked copy". This however applies any change to the chase back to the other copy which I don't usually want.

Somewhat related to this problem occurs when I go and change the times for a normal playback via the "Set Times" button. This will usually reset the times of the chases (to the default times) in that column of playback buttons. I have also had problems when I change the speed of a chase via the connect button changing other chases on that playback page too.

The next problem deals with autoload function in my cue stack. This past weekend, I was trying to use the autoload function for several of the songs we were playing on stage. I would load a playback on one step, and then try to turn it off on the next step, and then in a third step turn on a different playback. What was happening is that the first playback would not turn off and the second playback would be applied to the values of the first playback. This resulted in incorrect colors on my color mixing fixtures, and incorrect positions on my movers.

Another problem occurs when the LED on the playback button does not illuminate when the step in the cue stack calls it up. Then you don't if the playback is still running. This occurred last weekend where a chase was still running creating a distracting look on stage. The problem was the operator did not know which playback was active so he could not turn it off.

The manual says that only one playback in a column can be active at one time. With our console though, I have seen where I will have manually activated a playback, and then the next cue calls up a different playback in that same column. Now both LED's are illuminated indicating both playbacks are active. Last week while I was programming I actually had all 4 playbacks active at the same time. I called up playback 41 with cue 1, cue 2 was supposed to turn off playback 41 and was linked to cue 3 which called up playback 31. Cue 4 was supposed to turn off playback 31 and was linked to cue 5 which turned on playback 21. Cue 6 was supposed to turn off playback 21 and was linked to cue 7 which turned on playback 11. After running this sequence, all 4 playback button LED's were lit.

This next problem has become worse over the last several months. I will create a chase and then modify the speed via the "Connect" button and save it through the chase menu. After running through the cues a couple of times to make sure the cues work correctly with the music, I find that the chases no longer run at the proper speed. The saved speeds have not changed but it seems like the console is bogged down. At this point I reset the console with the reset button on the back of the console and the chase runs fine until I do some more programming, then I get the same problem and I have to reset the console again.

The next observed problem occurs when I press the "Help" button. It comes up with an error message saying something like "the file is not found." I have done a Wipe-All and then reloaded my show, and the "Help" button works fine, but after I adjust the speed of a chase with more than 10 steps via the "Connect" button the Help button no longer works.

I have not done a wipe all and started from scratch because I don't want to loose all the things I currently have programmed in, but I guess that is what I need to try next.

Are there any other suggestions or ideas as to what is going on with my console?

Thanks
Brian

hey

i use the desk only in playback mode .

eg i record a chase store it in the play back menu and
use them to play it back, its the only way I know how to
use the desk and for what i use it for its very effective.

but as of the last few weeks i have been having the same problem
as you.

its getting to be really bad, so much that i cant go between cases with out expecting chases to have taken attributes from other cases.

PLEASE help us avo, i have no back up if this gets any worse, im done for. :(
