Help with Pearl Expert Titan

Hi 8)

I'm a light technician at a local culture house in Alta, Norway.
We just got a new Pearl Expert Titan, and I really colud use some help. I've looked around on the forum, and I see that it is a lot of threads about the Titan, but me level is kind of under this so far.

I read the manual no in the beginning, and it started really well. I patched some fixtures, both moving and conventionell, i got some light in them and i found a lot of menues for controlling them. But when I got to the shapes part, it stopped. The manual told me to go to the main manu, and there is where the problem is. I can't seem to find the main menu, when I start up the pearl I only get a meny with user definition, system definition and so on. And when I go into user definition I can patch fixtures and stuff like that.

But it really feels like I've missed something very general here, anyone with experience that can see where I've failed?

Recently I've worked a lot on Jands Event 416, and just some on a Spark, but it is the Jands menues and way of thinking that I'm used to. If that helps to see the problem:P

Hi,

It sounds like you have the key in 'System' position?

The key is top left corner of the console. It should be in 'Program'.

Oh, I'll check that. But I'm pretty sure it stands in program, because it said so in the manual that it should be.

I also wonder what the differences is, when should I use the different key positions?

As you se I'm BLANK on this, so I hope you guys have some patient with my questions;)

When you move the key you should see the menus change in the LCD. There is small possibility you might need to move after console starts to make sure it reads the key position correctly.

If the menus do not change then there is a problem.

If the menus do change then please give short list of things you see in the program menu.

The System mode tells you current software version and gives access to some settings. For example desk lamp/screen intensity. You cannot operate the console in this mode.

Program mode is for programming. You have access to all console functions. The console can also be operated in this mode.

Run mode prevents access to programming functions so you can't accidentally change anything important. It also provides a few helpful options specifically for the running of a show.

Lovely, now it all works much better:P It is always one very simple and general thing that I have done wrong..

Today I've managed a lot with the Pearl, pathing, cues, palettes, legends, shapes... I'm really pleased with myself:P

But, next question.
What is the difference on a HTP and an LTP channel. In the manual it says:
The Pearl treats control channels in two ways:
- Dimmer or intensity channels work in the principle og "highest takes precedence"(HTP).........
- All other channels rotk on the principle of "Latest take precedence"(LTP).....

But what is a dimmer/intesity channels, and what is all the other channels?
If you see what I don't understand this time?:)

Dimmer channels are for example the channel you use for a Parcan, or an other conventional fixture. That`s HTP, when you have 2 playbacks with the same fixture, and you raise the first one to 50% and the second, to 45%, then it will keep his original value of 50%.

LTP channels are all the channels of a moving light for example, except the dimmerchannel of the moving light. When you make 2 playback with the CMY channels, it will take the value of the last raised playback.

Hope it`s clear?

Hi:)

Thanks again for the help.

I can't seem to find my nightsun movingheads in the manufacture list in the pearl. Is that really true, that it doesn't exist in the library of manufactures?
If anyone now?:)

I don't think so. First time I've ever heard of them. You can request personalities in the online library.
