We are using the Pearl 2004 in our club to control about 14 moving heads, 10 washes and some LED par cans.
They are all well patched and programmed but there is a need to change somehow the way we are using them (I took over this club 2 weeks ago so I'm not quite an expert yet in pearl programming).

I was wondering if there is a way to pick 2 or 4 moving heads and place them to light up the dancers on the subs.

Actually I did manage to place the spots were I'd like to and to store it as a memory or a palete but if I start a chase which includes this fixtures, they are taken over by the chase so I dont have a standing light on the dancers anymore.

Is there a way to set permanently values for a couple of fixtures, so they won't be affected by the chases?

It's difficult to advise without understanding the original programming and what you want to achieve.

As an overview, the highest intensities will always take precedence, but other attributes (such as position or colour) will obey the latest values sent. The only way to override this is to select the fixtures and place the relevant values into the programmer (ie by wheel, numerically or by palette). This will then prevent playbacks taking control until you press clear, but far from ideal.

Generally I would recommend people avoid trying to use someone elses programming because there are many ways of achieving the same results. I suggest you have a go at starting from scratch. That way you learn the console, will understand how it was programmed and get it to do exactly what you want.

Basically, it's only about the positioning, I don't care about gobo's, colors, shutters and so on. Pan/Tilt only because it's really hard to fit 4 moving heads every evening to light up the subs.
The new programming will come soon - if I got the time for re-doing everything.

This works... but when i'm switching to a new chase it's gone - in addition for some chases (existing ones, created by somebody else) the actual pan/tilt change using the wheels doesn't work at all !
I've read all the stuff about HTP and LTP in the user manual & guide but it didn't really helped me.


If I want to start all over from scratch, how can I create a chase using the shape generator for all the moving fixtures and then to apply, durring the show, a positioning patch only for 4 of them?

Any values you place in the programmer will take control always, until you press clear.
However, shapes (ie. positional) will continue. The only way to stop a shape is to create a new one using the relevant fixtures/attributes with a size of zero.
To override shapes from a playback simply record this zero size shape as a cue.
