New Pearl Expert User

I'm a relatively new user to the pearl consoles (and programmed in general) and have a few questions that you guys might be able to help me clear up ..

After having patched my lights and programmed numerous palettes and cues at some stage in the process when i cleared all and released all my cues my macs were still at 100% intensity. What i did in the end was save a palette for mac off and used this in the show between songs to avoid any issues.

Also I was finding when I had a playback which had the macs doing a shape when i brought the fader down to zero the shape would often continue even sometimes even after selecting Off and then the relevant playback. Is there something fundamental i'm missing in the programmimg process here?

Another quirk I came across was similar to the mac intensity problem but instead a few of my dimmer channels seemed to lock themelf on and I could only get them off by bringing their fader to zero and up then zero again but whenever I cleared the programmer their 'natural' state of 100% would resume. In the end i deleted the channel and repatched them and things seemed to work from there.

Any suggestions?

Cheers guys :)

It sounds like you could benefit from the Avo training course. Are you in the UK? Please contact Avolites for more info.

I have to say I'm struggling to see how you ended up with these problems. It's not something I remember ever encountering.

Palettes containing intensity deliberately won't kill with clear but fixture handle does override. I tried combinations of shifting in and out of run modes to cause a lock but all works as expected.

Shapes in a cue-list could appear to remain on since default action for cue-lists is to remain until killed by shift+swop. Similarly, intensities in a cue-list could remain in this way if the cue-list was set to 'cross fade'. However, both of these are quite obscure and would kill using release (using OFF) anyway.

Maybe Olie saw something I've overlooked? It would be useful to understand.

Needless to say, the training is invaluable. I only ever hear good things about it.

My interpretation of the problems are as such:

After having patched my lights and programmed numerous palettes and cues at some stage in the process when i cleared all and released all my cues my macs were still at 100% intensity. What i did in the end was save a palette for mac off and used this in the show between songs to avoid any issues.

Probably not on the current fixture page and so left on.

Also I was finding when I had a playback which had the macs doing a shape when i brought the fader down to zero the shape would often continue even sometimes even after selecting Off and then the relevant playback. Is there something fundamental i'm missing in the programmimg process here?

Normally this is because you have recorded a cue list.

Another quirk I came across was similar to the mac intensity problem but instead a few of my dimmer channels seemed to lock themelf on and I could only get them off by bringing their fader to zero and up then zero again but whenever I cleared the programmer their 'natural' state of 100% would resume. This means you have not got the latest version of the Titan software. This was a bug when using intensity palettes but was fixed in v1.2.
