i wondered if it was possible to install the pearl 2004 software on a pearl 2000 console.

Yes!

Be aware you may experience problems running shows created using 2000 software.

I recommend starting a new show from scratch to be certain.

What kind of problems would be encountered with shows originally created in 2000 software?

The biggest issue with using a September 2000 show is that in that software version there was a problem where it would not give unique IDs to Memories and Chases.

The new software can run shapes in chases and because of the ID problem you may find the desk thinks that a shape in a memory is in a chase. This problem can be resolved by photocopying the chase with the rouge shape in it.

This ID problem does also cause problems when you try to edit items such as memories and chases. Again this problem can pe resolved by using photocopy but you must be aware of it.

It is for the reasons above that we recomend you start with a fresh show.

As this problem is caused by a bug in the old software and not in the new software there is very little we can do about it.
