Pearl compatability with other Pearls

my main gig uses a 2008... I have tried loading a show i wrote on the 2004 software using the Avocopy software, but the console won't recognize the show.

anyway, that's not what this question is about.

Friday, I'm being handed a Pearl 2010 to use with the same fixtures I use in my regular gig. The light bulb went oif in my head, ding, idea!

(this is what this post is about)

I was wondering about compatibility issues between a Pearl 2008 that won't run regular 2008 shows and a Pearl 2010....

Do they use the same OS?

As far as I know both the software and hardware are the same.

An other question;

When i have a pearl expert classic programmed, and i use as back up or so a pearl tiger, what do i lose when i during a show have to switch to the tiger?
I think someone is gonna say that you need to program both consoles, but that`s no option, because of the time.

Should be compatible. I think the design was to simply lose the last 10 playbacks. Just as you would lose 5 on a standard Pearl. Obviously upper bank of fixtures will be more awkward needing shift/select and any palettes on the upper bank will only be available numerically or via palette menu.

for the record...

the only differences I found between a 2008 and a 2010 is in where the LCD brightness and contrast buttons are located... The OS is the same.
