moving fixtures

I'm trying to move one fixture from one handle to another. The manual says:

2.2.2 Moving a fixture to a different handle
You can move a dimmer or fixture from one handle to another simply
by entering the DMX channel to match the address of the fixture, then
patching it again onto another handle. However, all programming is lost
for that dimmer channel or fixture.

This makes no sence to any of us here in the shop. for instance, WHERE would you enter the DMX channel?

Moving dimmers are simply. just put in a new handle. Got it. You cant do that with a fixture because it says its already in use.

Only way we know to do it is to FIST delete the fixture than put it in a blank handle. What are we missing?

I don't know of any way that you can move a fixture to a different handle in Classic.

Nic if you cant do it, then it cant be done! LOL. Thanks. So delete and reinstall it is!
