Titan Simulator 6.1
I am unable to make the Virtual panel work on the Simulator using any of the desks. I have tried removing all previous versions of Titan completely and re-installing the suite 6.1. The panel appears, and I can re-load it it and change desks, but it has no affect on the desk. The simulator is locked in run mode and I am unable to change it due to the V. Panel not working. Any ideas?

This service is (should be) started when the simulator is started, and makes for the connection between the virtual panel and the simulator.
please try:
- open a DOS box (Win-R)
- type
- now the service should be started. Start the simulator after this.
If the service fails again, then this needs to be looked into.
Also, maybe you can check which .NET version is installed. The easies way to find this out is a little program called .NET Version Detector. Find it here: http://www.asoft.be/prod_netver.html. Simply Download, unzip, and run it. On my machine it reads
At least 3.5 (and all previous ones) are a pre-requisite.
please try:
- open a DOS box (Win-R)
- type
Code: Select all
net start "Avolites Expert USB"
[ENTER]
- now the service should be started. Start the simulator after this.

I think USB Expert is missing. When I install Simulator in any version it stops the install and says USB Expert up to date. But I cannot find USB Expert anywhere in the Avo folder. Doing what you say above in DOS says it cant find the file. Is there anyway to install the USB Expert Drivers independently?

It should live in c:\program files\Avolites\USB Expert.
I'd suggest:
- check in Windiows System control, programs, if USB Expert claims to be installed. Uninstall it there.
- Then, install it manually. The installer packlage should live in c:\program files\Avolites\Install. It's named UsbExpertSetupV4.6.msi (or similar)
Sounds like a Windows weirdness. You can remove a program, but Windows sometimes still believes it's installed - and refucses any update...
Of course, the full way would be:
- uninstall all Avolites-related programs from the control panel
- restart
- now, try installing the simulator again
- restart
- ready to rumble

Despite removing all traces of USB Expert from the system, every time I install PC Suite 6.1 it stops and says my USB Expert is up to date. Any suggestions?

Only to be sure: have you really uninstalled all Avo programs from control panel? There is a list of all related programs at http://www.avolites.com/Support/Softwar ... Notes.aspx.
And as you might know (thus, more for other readers), there is a very fundamental difference between deleting and uninstalling. The former just removes the programs, whilst the latter (in theory) also removes all traces from the registry...

Everything done correctly. I can find USB Expert in the install folder within the Avo folder. Double clicking it starts the USB Expert Install. Then it stops and displays the message that it cannot find the file.
It seems to me that Suite 6.1 is not installing the USB Expert drivers as it thinks they are already installed. Which they are not. I am currently plotting n Titan One as a work around.

If Avolites Expert Usb is shown in the services list this may be preventing installation as it is already partially installed. I suggest that you open an elevated command prompt window by going to Start > Programs > Accessories then right clicking on Command Prompt and selecting Run as administrator. In the window that appears type in the following command: sc delete "Avolites Expert Usb" then press the return key. This will delete the service from your computer, once this is done please try running the installer again.
