Colour Block Pixel Mapping?

Postby tom10293 » 25 Nov 2011, 12:02

Hi all,

I am trying to map a load of Chroma Q DB4's but am struggling to find the correct personality which will enable me to 'unfold' each block into its individual cells.

I may have understood it wrong, but from what I understand I can take a multi cell fixture and 'unfold' it into its 'sub fixtures', thus enabling me to control each cell.

If anyone knows off the top of their head whats the best whats the best way to go about this then it'd be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Tom

All of the multi-cell modes are compatible with pixel mapping. Make sure your library is up-to-date. The file is dated 14/6/2011.

Ok, I have updated the fixture library. It wont let me select to update the colour block personality from 'update personality'. The option to do so is there, but it will not let me select it.

Also, previous show that have been programmed using the single cell attributes are still working, but if i try and patch the fixtures again using the same mode there are no attributes to select from.
On the desk I have the 'old show' DB4's on universe A and the 'new show' DB4's on universe B, but the new patch does not have any attribute data to select from.
Hope this makes sense.

Basically the library is missing the fixture information for half the modes.

Unfortunately there is presently no way to update from the legacy personality to the master/sub-fixture version in a showfile. Doing so will result in loss of all data relating to these fixtures. You must delete and patch new. Not ideal I know. Hopefully this will be resolved in the future.

This doesn't solve the problem.

I have just sorted the problem with John. Turns out 90% of the modes that run in RGB in the Colour Block personality file don't work. Something to do with the virtual dimmer apparently.
Anyway, im sure you'll hear about this shortly. Johns going to send me across an updated personality today.

They do work. But where a fixture has a master dimmer it will not locate the sub-fixture cells. So if you select just the 'folded' handle of a fixture which has a master dimmer and press locate the fixture will not light on stage in some personalities where the sub-fixture cells employ a virtual dimmer. This can lead you to think it is not working. If, however, you unfolded and selected the cells they will locate as expected.

Because of this it has been decided to not use virtual dimmer in sub-fixture cells for now where the fixture has a master dimmer. Unfortunately this decision happened after I already updated some files.

Even if I unfold the fixture, i can select the cells but no fixture attributes are present.

I suspect there is a mode conflict in your show where you essentially have two versions of the same file.

Try a new show to confirm. If this works ok then try deleting all existing Colorblock fixtures from your show before patching the new version.
