Pallette Pages

Postby SynyrdZep » 12 Nov 2011, 18:47

We have a Pearl Expert Titan that I just updated to V5, and I love a lot of the new features, but I have a question relating to the difference between Titan and Classic Pearl. In Titan, by default, the grey palette buttons change pages along with the fixture pages, which you were able to do in classic by turning on the user option. In Titan, is there a way to turn that off, so that it behaves like the default setting in Classic, where the palette buttons are always pg 0, whatever fixture page you are in.

I rarely use more than 60 palettes, since I mostly program one-offs, but I often have multiple pages of fixtures, and it would be nice to not have to keep changing to page 0 for the palettes. Or is there another way to accomplish this that I have overlooked?

Unfortunately there is no option to do this.

However, there is a way with macros:

Open the [Fixtures and Playbacks] workspace. Press Macro, [Record], select a preset grey key, click on page 1 one in the workspace and then press Macro again to end.
Repeat this for the four pages.

Obviously the disadvantage here is this occupies palette handles and you must use them instead of the normal page change buttons. The advantage is you can be sneaky and have more than four should you wish.

For paging palettes independent of fixtures do the same but use the [Groups and Palettes] workspace instead.

Thank you. That's an awesome workaround. Not using the fixture page buttons though will be a difficult habit to break. Perhaps adding such an option would be a good feature request. That was one functionality of the classic software that I did like.

Okay, I have another question....

The macros on the grey palette buttons is working well while programming and in takeover mode, like it should. However, while in Run mode, the macros are firing, changing the pages for me, when I want to flash the channel that happened to be on the handles with the macros. Should the macros be firing in Run mode? or have we discovered a bug?

Aha...

I found the option in Key Profiles. I just have to have my own run Key Profile where macros are set to prefer flash.
