Hello,
I havent used a pearl for about half a year now, and therefore have forgotten a few things,
1) Can i use the serial port to run an old din system? If so how do i patch these in?
2) if I plug my laptop directly into the pearl serial port I can then use the visualiser?
3) If i want to control a fixture movement speed on a chase using the fader how do i do this?
Thanks in advance

Thanks, help is always appreciated!!! maybe if I say what I am hoping for in Q1 it may make it easier,
I am doing a show in an old school theatre, they are running a sirius 24 off an old din sytem, the concetion to the desk appears to be a lead which goes from four din to a serial port, i was wondering if i could just plug that straight into the pearl and run it as i did on the house desk?
Also I could make question 2 easier, do i need a dongle or anything to run the visualiser with the pearl or can i just plug the two together?
Thanks for your help so far!!!!

No worries! ..except for lack of sleep....
Bad news and maybe good news:
Serial connector is input only (ie for graphics tablet & stage remote)
In fact the only output available from the desk is the DMX output.
Assuming the system you describe is not using 10v analogue (large multipin connectors), then it is probably DMX, just not on 5 pin XLR's.
So long as you can confirm the dimmers are DMX and can find the pin configuration (maybe printed on the units), then it would be quite simple to make an adaptor.
Yes, Visualiser requires dongle.
PS. It is generally not a good idea to post email addresses in forums as they get automatically collected by nasty spam generators
