Expert Titan-Palletes & LED fixtures

Postby Stratis » 11 Mar 2010, 00:32

I'm using version 2.0 of titan software and i must say i'm getting used to it and i prefer it from the old expert software.I have though some questions.Firstly , is there a way to disable quick palette as i couldn't find this option in settings or in the manual. Now i am using VaryLed A7 zoom from jb-lighting and i am trying to create a RGB mix on 3 sub-masters but always the one color overwrites the other.Taking example of the CMY mix i am storing each color as channel in mode 2 but in normal fixtures the values go 0-100% but on LEDs it's the opposite 100-0%.CMY mixing was easy ti create but i am a little bit confused with RGB mixing.Could someone help me with this????Thanks in advance.

You can't disable quick palettes at the moment.

I don't understand what you mean about LED's being 100-0%. The RGB channels are 0-100%. CMY is subtractive mixing and RGB is additive. This is the nature of the fixture types.

Make sure you are in record by channel mode and you only record red, green or blue information per playback. If you try to simulate CMY with B+G, R+B and R+G then you will have problems because of the way mode2 works. This is the same in Classic.

I refer to the CMY mix as the way i use to store the RGB mixing i am not trying to simulate CMY with B+G, R+B and R+G but when i connect the LEDs and locate them them the RGB values are all to 100% so as to display white. Then i pres clear to clear the programmer and the values are still 100%.If i keep the one value of the three to 1--% and make the other 2 zero i will just have one color in each playback which will overwrite each other..Hope to get the quick palette option in a future update.

This is your mistake. You are placing one colour at 100% and the others at 0% in the programmer therefore they will overwrite.

Clear
Select fixture(s).
Select attribute.
Wheel or enter numeric 100% for just one component.
Record cue by channel.
Clear

Repeat for the other two components. Set to mode2 and manually set all three components back to 0%.

Why do you need option to disable quick palette? What is the problem you are having?

I will try this although i think i've done it before but i may haven't reset the values at the end to zero.
I would say that i use more the palettes than playbacks and because of that i may hit one by accident.Basically i would like every time i hit a palette to know that it is going to apply to the highlighted fixtures and not to all.
Thank you for your time

Hi Stratis,

Quick palettes only work when you have nothing selected, as soon as you have one or more fixtures selected then the palettes you press will only apply to those fixtures.

I must agree on the quick pallete disable option - in small shows with few fixtures it's makes no difference, but in larger ones when you have one color pallete for lots of different fixture types with different positions and usage, spread all around the venue , accidentally applying color to all of them can mess things up. Lack of this disable feature has made me to start using separate color palletes for movings/LEDs - at those moments I would prefer ability to just disable quick palletes.
