2008 Floppy & USB problem

This is the same problem somebody had posted before but no reply at all. Please help.

We are using 2008 consoles. Before upgrading them, it worked fine with floppy disk. However, after upgrading them with 2008 software, when I patched the fixtures from floppy disc, then I return to the View->Fixture Patch, it didn't show the device name on the view.
What's the matter with that?

Also, is it okay to put the usb stick on the console during programming or playing the show? We have found that some errors seems to occur and make the show file crashed. We had to hard reset. Do you have any cases reported like this? Is it okay to use a usb which works as mp3 player as well?

if a USB stick has any type of executable program on it, like a U3 stick drive, it won't work in the desk.
now, if you just have mp3's on the drive, then it will work.

Do you know anything about the floppy problem when patching?

I would check for loose connectors inside the desk. The 1.44" floppy drive's connector is notoriously weak

(it's a drive thing, not an Avo thing)

If it were a loose connector I would expect a problem only when accessing the floppy, possibly intermittently.

For device name not showing in view fixture patch it sounds most likely a personality thing. If happening with all fixtures then try another personality disk/try from usb etc. see if you can find a pattern.

Floppy drive works fine. When saving and loading the show, it works ok.

We have tried many different disks but no.. didn't work. (Also, I made correct directories for 2008 patch)
So we use usb when patching.

I'm wondering if it is not possible to patch with floppy disk on 2008 desk.
Please let me know.
