I know there is a way.
I have a pearl expert classic. I also have 5 Chavet Color DASHbattens. They can use up to 12 dmx channels by using the block personality, so you can divide the batten in to 4. Each section has rgb capability. I wanted to be able to flash the battens each section having a different color. Since the 12 is divided by the rgb 3 there is no dimming on them. When I bring up the colors they will not go away. I got smart and put the the cue in mode 2 that got me able to dim the colors. The only problem is that the green 3 and the green 2 fall on the second wheel of both gobo function and the speed attributes. Apparently these are not included in the mode 2 programing. So when I bring the handle for the colors cue up and then down, everything fades except for the green 3 and green 2. So I am left with a green wash, which is the worst kind of wash to be stuck with. I know there is a way to make this work. I tried to save in record stage, by fixture, and checked in the user settings. No such luck, I get left with sick zombies on stage. I am currently using them in the 10 dmx stage 1 personality. I noticed that there are 4 free attribute banks not being used. Dimmer thru Color. I know these are include in the mode 2. Is there an easy way to fix this problem. Maybe rewriting the personally to move the rgb to the Dimmer thru Color attributes? Patching the units as 4 generic rgb units? This would take up 20 of my handles. I think that is a wast. Please if there is anyone who can answer this, rewrite the personality, or explain how I can rewrite the personality, let me know.
Mode2 relies on fading attributes.
The ones that don't release are set to instant. While this is originally defined in the personality file, you can modify it within the console via patch/utilities/set instant/fade. Select attribute button and use preset add/swop buttons to toggle mode. It is important to have a VDU connected to see current setting, otherwise it is a bit hit-and-miss and no fun at all!.
Another option for control is to use an HTP version. Allows normal fading but no palettes. This must be modified in the personality file.
Finally you could use Titan with virtual dimmer, but this would require a separate handle for each cell.

Ok, so I changed the instant attributes to fading. Have all the cues in mode2 and i get fading on all of the leds, but I ran in to a new problem. When I have a blue/green cue up and I want to cross fade to a green cue, I get the green leds stuck on. the only way to take them out is to manually reduce the leds. I only run in to this when I cross fade between two cues with the same leds in it. I don't have the problem when I fade one cue out and bring up the other, only stick when I cross fade. Should I just give in and patch each cell as a individual HTP unit? You mentioned that an other option for control is to use an HTP version. Allows normal fading but no palettes. This must be modified in the personality file. How do I do that? Last I am currently waiting on the titan upgrade kit. I have requested it through Avo America. They keep telling me that they have not received it yet. So until then I am making due with the classic.
I don't know if I get the problem, but I've been using American DJ LED Bar with 11 channels. Channels 1-9 are RGBRGBRGB and 10-11 are shutter and dimmer.
I've patched them as 3x Generic RGB HTP and 2 dimmer channels.
If Led Bar has DMX address 1, then Generic RGB's are patched to address 1, 4,7 and 2 dimmer channels are patched as channel 10 (shutter) and 11(dimmer).
It means I can use RGB shapes with those Led Bars in 11 channel mode. I also means that I have 3 fixtures patched for one Led Bar.
