Pearl 2004 upgrade?

Is it possible to upgrade my Pearl 2004 to the Pearl 2008 software?
I suspect not, but one could hope! I also guess there is no way to add a usb drive the console as well.

There is a hardware upgrade to enable usb. This is used with 2008 software. You cannot install the software without it, but there would be no advantage anyway.
