Unlinked Chases On a Pearl

Postby Ari- » 17 Jul 2009, 18:11

Is there anyway to have multiple unlinked chases running simulaneously on the Pearl?

I just tried in the Simulator (Pearl 2004 I think) creating a position chase/no colour information/recorded by fixture and a two-step color chase/not position info/recorded by channel and then unliked both.

I intended to have an unlinked chase containing the positions I want and others with color/gobo/shutter/etc chases, for example and mix them all on the fly using either 'go' button or flash buttons instead of previously programmed times. It is possible?

Yes it should work fine.

Note that record by fixture will record all information for a selected fixture. Therefore, with your current method, your position chase will override colours from the colour chase. If this is not what you intend then use record by channel or remove unwanted information by merging 'off' values into relevant chase steps. Obviously it would be important to set record mode to channel before doing this too!

I'm trying it on the Visualiser and made two unlinked chases:

1-positions 1, 2 3
2-colors blue, magenta

When I raise the color chase, it runs ok with the position chase, buto when I lower the fader, the position chase or keep the last color of the color chase through its steps; or came back to white (if i program by channel including open white) only in the next step.

I wanted a way of loading the unlinked color chase, using it with a position step and by lowering its fader the effect be withdrawn in the same step, not in the next, as I got. If it was a shape, I think it would be mode=2, but as a chase I dont know how to do it.

Am I missing anything?

Unfortunately there is no way to do that in Classic. In Titan it is possible to release the colour channels to their locate values.
