help programming led's and movers on a single roller

Postby pixilpusher » 20 May 2009, 23:37

Hi, I've been using the expert for a while now.. great console!

Recently I've been seperating my led's from my movers using the split roller, but I'm doing a festival this weekend and we're using an '04 desk.. I'll only have a single roller.

I need to switch my playbacks quickly. Any suggestions as to how to keep my playbacks seperate (other than multiple pages). I know I can use palettes for colors, strobes and gobos. The show consists of lots of movement with the movers and a ton of rgb shape effects for the leds.

I hope I've explained this well.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

The two elements you can't really put anywhere else are intensity cues/chases and shapes. But I find there is rarely any need for more than one positional shape at once, so you should be able to minimise mover PB's to one shape, a chase and a few intensity masters? This then leaves you with the rest for LED/generics etc.

Another option is to create some stacks by way of unlinked chases. This can include shapes. So you could have one fader with an unlinked chase containing a few different RGB shapes and step through them with [GO] if connected, or the relevant playback add button. The disadvantage (for shapes) is you cannot use mode2 in chases to control speed/size.

Don't forget you can make use of the roller page buttons (1-3) as well as roller facets. It is often best to keep all pages structured and sometimes only have slight variations - ie. a different positional shape/alternative intensity chases etc.
