Expert 2.1 Bug?

Postby twonski » 08 Oct 2008, 21:11

Hi, i just updated our pearl expert software last week to the latest build (from 2.0 to 2.1), but on the first time we used it on a show since the update, our operator/programmer reported that some functions and features of the console went crazy, like:

-On creating pallettes: pallettes cannot be saved or recalled.

-The shape generator doesn't work well, shapes are shaky and too fast even if you adjust size and speed (all shapes).

-when you press the view button, eg. fixture patch, it doesn't display anything on the screen but instead, it just returns to the program home screen even if fixtures are already patched.

So we just decided to restore the console back to build 2.0 and everything went back to normal.

We're not really into the added features of the 2.1 software, but I just wanna know if this is a common thing or if we share the same experience with other expert users who also updated their console.

And by the way, the reason why we updated the software is just because we were expecting it to be more stable. Some programmer (a foreigner) just violently punched this console right in the middle of the split rollers because of frustration and we just went :shock: , 'crazy dude said that the rollers suddenly stopped working during their show (while running on 2.0). We're not sure if it's just him getting confused, but when we checked the rollers, they were working fine... :x

Anyway, thanks in advance guys...

Its seems as if the installation of your 2.1 went wrong somewhere.
I would try again using a different memory stick perhaps.
I have not heard of any problems like this with the 2.1 software.
If you still have problems then try running the recovery disk after reading the instructions on the link below;
http://www.avolites.org.uk/support/faqs/faq10024.htm
and then updating to 2.1 (assuming you dont have a 2.1 recovery disk).

Let me know if you have any further problems with this.
Glad to hear the rollers didnt break!
