Pearl Expert Palette problems
I recently had issues with palettes not being recorded into chases and memories. . Was using the expert and programming the desk for a party using record by channel. Roller Que was full with colour chases, gobo looks, dimmer chases etc. Recorded all palettes as normal - colours for each individual fixture type on the same button. Had VL6Cs, VL2500, Pix Pars, Colour Block/Blast, Pix Line.. all worked apart from the VL2500s which did not recognise any of their palette info when playing back a chase or a memory. Had chases which used just VL6cs and the VL2500 and the 6Cs worked fine. Tried re-recording the palettes and the chases but to no avail. You could select the lights and use the palettes manually and they would work but as soon as it was played back it did not. Have always recorded palettes and chases in this way and have had no previous problems but have never used VL6Cs and VL2500 together - could this be the problem. Apparently this issue has been seen before. Any ideas on how to solve it?
Well that's quite interesting. Or at least a big coincidence since I also have the problem with VL2500's - gobos specifically and also Tourwash 575 colour channel (not CMY).
In my experience it is only chases and not static memories that are affected.
I have seen this since very early stages but was never certain whether it was related to my showfiles having been through various software builds and become corrupt.
The confusion stems from the fact you can perform a wipeall, patch some 2500's and all works correctly.
Unfortunately bottom line is this was never solved and solution is to start again and hope (!) or just nudge the problem values before storing. This is obviously awkward and completely removes the option of traditional 'preset focus' use, if that makes sense. But that's all I can advise.
The final solution to this will be in new software, but for this we must wait a little longer.
