Enjoying my first 6 months with the Pearl. Have pulled off a number of shows at this point. Very happy with the product. My next skill to learn;
Can someone give me a basic step by step on how to program a slow sweep on a playback? I want to say, start with an instrument in its home position and sweep it slowly to a pointing down position. In other words, a simple timed move from position A to B. Thanks for any help.

Two step chase.
Record position one as step one, position two as step two.
Run chase and adjust fade time by wheel.
Possibly connect to chase/chase parameters/[stop on final step]?
This is very basic stuff and should be covered by the manual.
You can get more advanced by adding a third step which moves to start position quickly in blackout. Here you might [unfold] the chase and then have separate timings for the three steps.
ie.
1) Dimmer off, first position, fade 0 sec.
2) Dimmer on, no change to position, fade 0 sec
3) Dimmer on, second position, fade x sec.
You can also perhaps choose to unlink the first step so that raising the playback gets the effect ready and then pressing the playback Add or chase control [go] button starts the sweep.
This more advanced chase may need extra steps/wait times and fine tuning to take into account how fast the fixture can respond and might also contain fade in/out (HTP) of dimmer.

If positionA is already given by either another memory/playback, or a preset focus, then you'd only have to program 1 mode1(timed fade) or mode2(manual crossfade) memory with positionB in it.
Niclights describes a process that gives you both PositionA and PositionB on the same playback.
Is this making any sense to you?

niclights wrote:I described "two step chase". This exists on one playback. The method to create is incredibly quick and I know of no other desk that makes it so easy.
If that is not what you meant please explain in more detail. Did you read the manual as I suggested?
Yes I did, and I do have it working to a certain extent, but for some reason when I go into a playback chase using the stop and go to bump from one cue to the next, the first step is blacked out scene. sorry if that doesn't make any sence, don't know another way to describe it.
Still finding it easier to get the results I need on my Leprecon LPX-24 than on my Pearl.

Use 'Record by Channel' mode and be very particular about what is and isn't recorded (ie. in the programmer).
I think it has to do with the way I record the chase, although i'm following the manual to the letter. When I run it as a chase, it goes through everything fine. But when I unlink and raise the playback, the first cue is always blank. Is there a way to always bring up the first cue when you raise the playback?
