fader bleed problem

Postby nfegan » 03 Oct 2007, 17:16

I'm servicing an old pearl (prl069) for a client, having changed about 50 of the faders I'm finding on preset faders 21 when you bring it up full channel 22 seems to bleed up to about 10% and when you do the opposite, bring up channel 22 to full 21 goes to about 10%. Likewise on the two faders above these, (preset B), channels 51 and 52 the same happens. all four of these faders have been changed for new ones. I've checked for bad connections and faulty components in this area but noting appears faulty.can you please help?
Also want to upgrade software, currently running on B1 oct 9th 2000, is there any problem updating this to latest and greatest version?

Before put new faders it was better to swap preset faders card... aniway, if the card and the sliders are ok, it seems to be the analog board.
The analog board do not like dust, beer and coca cola...
Try to clean it and see if the there is no humidity on pin IC's...

To update the software with the last version ( pearl 2004 version 1.2) with a boris 1 card you need the extension memory and optical encoders.
If you don't have them put the last pearl 2000 software.

regarding the software upgrade, the desk has both optional memory slots filled, am I correct in thinking this is the extended ram? and it has the 2 wheels under the screen on the front panel, are these the optical encoders you refer to? I have installed build 8 march 12th 2004 software and it seems to be running ok, is there anything I can check to confirm this?
I was getting video card bus errors before software update, still getting them, all be it different errors, any ideas anyone? there is no video card installed

the march 8 2004 software is working on all desk, if you have optical encoders and the optional ram you can put the Pearl 2004 Software
Version 1.2 ( situated in the pearll 200/2004 download section).

Yes i am talking about the 2 wheels under the screen... The optical version has got a metal shaft , the old one are in plastic.

For your video card bus errors without it , it's quite strange, probably the connector is dirty, try to clean it. Check also the motherboard, perhaps some wire are in short circuit...

The only thing is that the old encoders can't work with the last software.

The last software ( pearl 2004 vers 1.2) give you more option, like:
-include a shape ( from the shape generator) in a chase.
-On the attributes bank you can see now on the LCD the name of the colour or gobo, instead of %.
-Quick palette to apply a palette without select fixtures.
-Filtered palette to include palettes in an allready programmed memory.
-You can have more palette on grey flash button with the fixtures pages.
-With an external VDU ( with a graphic card of course...) you can see a "virtual" rolacue where you can labels all of your memory....
- and you can labels also palettes, group, pages of group, pages of memory, etc etc...
