Pearl 2004 Boot Problem

Hi,
I have a pearl 2000 in front of me that is refusing to boot up. When power is applied to the unit the screen just rolls left to right as it does normally but never actually goes into the next step which has text on the screen (energising pearl etc) and just keeps on rolling. Have tried resetting, booting in avos II mode, booting in factory wipeall mode, checked all the chips and ribbons for correct connectivity. Tried connecting an external vga monitor just to be sure that it was not the inbuilt screen or driver but monitor receives no signal..

Any ideas??
