Copy Fixture??

Postby philpompili » 20 Nov 2006, 04:48

Hi everyone, I have another (probably very basic) Pearl question to ask the forum. As you may have read in the past, the show I operate consists of TechnoBeams and MAC 600's. The TechnoBeams are on Universe 1 while the MAC 600's are on universe 2. The other night, a company came in and put 12 more TechnoBeams on Universe 3 (it was a special event). In any case, the Techno's being on their own universe shared the same addresses as the ones on Universe 1. I would like to know if there is a way to copy the DMX values in my existing Cue's and transfer them to the new fixtures. I would like to do this to have an easy starting position for the new fixtures, then I would only have to tweak position focuses and some of the shapes. My solution for the night was just to double up on Universe #1 and put up with a negligible position problem, however in the future I would like ot be able to copy the DMX data from my original fixtures and then overlay them onto the new fixtures, thus only having to modify minor palette entries.
In Light Jockey this feature is called "Copy Fixture Data" and is done from the patch window. Is there a way to do this on the Pearl??

Thanks...

I'm not entirely sure what you want to achieve, but two functions spring to mind:

'Align fixtures', from the ML menu can take data and copy to selected fixtures according to focus mask. You could originally acquire this data by using 'include' and from a chosen fixture if required.

Specific for this situation is the Shared Palettes feature. If you store palette data for only one fixture of a particular type then it will automatically be shared on all fixtures of that type, even if they are patched later.

Yes, I am aware of the "Align Fixture" feature, but that would still require me to "re-save" all of Cue's, would it not? The feature I am referring too (and I'm not sure if any other board actually does this but I know LightJockey does) actually takes all of the Cue info stored for a specific fixture, and then copies it to another fixture. For example, if I have a Mac250 and lets say 10 Cues associated with that fixture, and I add another Mac250 to my show, in LJ I would be able to simply copy the first fixture over top of the next fixture. The newly added Mac250 would then do the exact thing the first one was doing in all associated cue's, however I would then be able to modify that fixture individually of the rest. So it mirrors the original fixture giving you a base to start your programming.
If you use "Align Fixture" will it align everything including Shapes??

Thanks

The feauture you require isn't available on a pearl.
You'll have te re-record all cues. Either by just adding the new fixtures, or by including the old cue and using " allign fixtures"

Good luck
