selecting palets problem

Postby powerdesign@skynet.be » 11 Aug 2006, 13:35

I select a group press 10 on the keypad an then I want to select a palette. this does not work.
When I select the fixtures manualy, it does work and will execute the selected preset in 10 seconds.

Any ideas?

Regards, Bert.

How do you recall the group? Fixture groups can be recalled via numpad entry and softkey A (Recall group). After that press 10 and the pallet you want to recall, that should work fine.

I tried this and it works fine, though a colour wheel seems to always snap to it's new value, as opposed to for instance pan/tilt which listens to the time input. I don't exactly know why and if you can change this behaviour somehow. For now, try with pan/tilt and you should see results.

That's exactly how I'm doing it.
It's very strange behaviour because in rare occasion it does work.

I thought I found a workaround by setting the master time in the FOCUS options, but same result. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just freezes all my palettes.
I can only get them back by resetting the master time to 0.

I realy hope someone can help me.

It is possible you have found a bug. I'm not sure if I originally tested group select into timed recall and the various ways it can be done. I will try some combos and see. Can you confirm you are running latest version?

If the pallete is setup with a a colour wheel rather than separate CMY wheels, then it'll most likely snap since we usually set colour wheels to LTP instant in personality files (to avoid people seeing the intermediate colours when going right round the wheel). You can change the setting for each channel on the console (I forget where), but it'll affect all timed memories, not just timed palletes.

Nick, I'll let you take a look at this for Olie :)

Erm. Thanks  I forgot and will probably forget again, but eventually I usually remember!

I was going to suggest the same reason for colour snap. I have noticed col attribute often set to instant by default though never really understood why. Surely it makes no difference to 'wheeling', but only timed palette recall & PB timing? Otherwise you would never be able to find a colour!

Anyhoo, for benefit of those that need to know, instant/fade is available through patch utilities.

And if you're about to fiddle with instant/fade, I would really advise connecting an external monitor. The onboard display gives NO feedback whatsoever on wich channels are instant or fade. Same goes for the pan and tilt invert.

Talking about slightly different wheels :) I meant the actual wheel in the fixture when running a playback, not the console's control wheel!
