DMX over Ethernet and Remote Control..?

Postby Island Light » 23 May 2017, 11:04

Hello!

I am using a Pearl Expert with Touch wing running version 9.0 set up as an install in a local venue.
I am trying to get away from using the DMX outs on the console (4) and start using the DMX over Ethernet.
This is just to make better use of the venues infrastructure and easier for the types of touring we get here.

The issue:
I can't seem to get the remote to work more than once...
I have tried every set up that I can think of with different switches too but to no avail and was wondering if it is just not possible to do this?
As in, run DMX over Ethernet and have remote access using an Airport Express

I currently have it set up as the following:

Console -> Switch
Air Port Express -> Switch
Switch -> sACN (Building Infrastructure)
sACN -> Dimmers/ Building Infrastructure.

This set up works but fails if I reset the network (i.e.. Overtime I leave the building and come back so my phone has left the console network) and when rejoining the correct network I can not find the console on the remote app.

There's no conflicting IP's and the are all Static so nothing is changing.

Any ideas?

Apologies if this is the most vague description but please post and I'll try my best to convey my issue if this is failing to do so!

Update:

I think I have narrowed down the issue but still don't know how to resolve it.
Everything works after the first initial boot up.
I can see the desk on the Titan Remote 9 app and have full control as I would expect.
If I close the app or leave the network I loose the console in the Titan app.
The only solution is to change the IP address in the network settings and the console reappears!
It's not ideal having to constantly change this every time I leave the room or close the app.

Is this a glitch with the app or the console?

Note: The network doesn't drop out.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction before I lob the console in the sea! :wink:

Maybe it would work better on DHCP? We have reserved IP addresses for all of our production devices at our facility, but we have run into issues with some that won't grab their assigned IP based on their mac address. Maybe the app always wants a new IP when leaving and rejoining the network? Is there an issue with leaving IP dynamic and letting DHCP sort it out?

Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately we have tried that but still have the same issue of losing the console on the Titan Remote app if you close the app or leave the network and rejoin.
