Pearl Classic: Personality Builder Split Dimmer/Shutter

Postby 2113 » 25 Oct 2016, 08:17

So I have a generic LED fixture that has a split dimmer/shutter. The first 127 values of the channel is for the dimmer with the remaining 127 being for the shutter. But I don't know how to split the channel up into proper functions in the Pearl Personality Builder for the Classic 2008 software.

Right now I just have the entire channel set as the dimmer, but functions, but I can't even get a smooth fade up because if I go too high it starts strobing, which isn't ideal :-/

I did try to split this up myself, but I don't have any examples to go by so my attempt didn't work at all.

I need to be able to split the dimmer and shutter into their own attributes using just the attribute range that each use.

If someone could help me out with this that would be awesome. I don't want to continue programming my show with this issue.

Thanks

Unfortunately there is no way to split an attribute like that.

I would suggest recording dimmer playbacks at 127 and then shutters (if required) at a specific strobe speed. That way the dimmer playbacks will give you the smooth fade and firing a shutter playback on its own or over the top will give you the strobe. I spent many years operating Miniscan HPE's like this.

Nic,

That will work for me. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something in Personality Builder when trying to accomplish this.

As, always, thanks for the reply.
