how to setup and use move in dark

Postby n4spd » 17 Jul 2016, 08:01

newbie question: in theater lighting where we do not want to see movements of lights, is it true that if you have multiple locations to light on stage, you would need at least two (groups) of lights for the two locations. at one time Lights group A is turned on for Location 1, and group B is on for Location 2, then Group A turned off and move in dark to Location 3 and ready, then they are turned on in the next cue. Group B then turned off and move in dark to Location 4 and get ready, then it is fired on the next cue.

I tried to build a cue list with the above 2 groups of lights, with these 4 locations as 4 cues, and i couldn't not do the move in dark as described above. I set all cues to Preload, MID early, what is the correct way of doing it?

thanks

make shure that in the cue where you turn the lights on you DONT put the position in the programmer, then i think it should work

hi thanks, I still dont quite understand how its done. I think the best way is if i can have a show file to look at how it is setup. there will be a online training on 4th August on MID so I will be tuned in and hopefully it will solve my problem.

There are lots of ways of approaching the programming. Try the following steps as an example (using default settings):

- Set group A and group B to the first positions they will be used.
- Select group A and group B fixtures and ensure their intensity is zero
- Record
- [Cue List]
- <select destination handle>
- [Append Step]
- Raise group A intensity to full (or desired level)
- [Append Step]
- Move group A to their next position
- Set group A to zero intensity
- Set group B to full intensity (or desired level)
- [Append Step]
- Move group B to their next position
- Set group B to zero intensity
- Set group A to full intensity (or desired level)
- [Append Step]

etc.

- Clear
- Fire cue list
- GO

= all fixtures move to first position in dark

- GO

= group A fade in

- GO

= group A fade out/group B fade in, group A moves to next position in dark

- GO

= group B fade out/group A fade in, group B moves to next position in dark

etc.
