V10 Upgrade, ECN-0204 and TitanShellSetupv2.6Release3

Postby n4spd » 13 Jul 2016, 02:20

Hi we bought a second hand TT2 and recently tried to upgrade to V10, but the system will not boot from the USB. It was created as bootable successfully, and we set BIOS to boot from USB first.

We are wondering if that could be because our console has not done a ECN0204 shell upgrade? But we can't find anywhere to download the file:TitanShellSetupv2.6Release3

The console has 2 Ethernet Ports so BIOS has been updated.

Thanks

Try formatting the stick first with Rufus then run the recovery creator.

In regards to ECN-0204, neither the BIOS change nor the Titan Shell update should effect the way the console boots recovery sticks, however you should still carry out the ECN as it resolves other issues. Details for the ECN can be found here, including section 1.5 which describes how to check that you have the correct BIOS installed. The Titan Shell upgrade can be found in the zip file download however this is not required if you are running v10 which has a newer version.

Thanks another issue i ran into today is when I went into BIOS to double check boot order, and BIOS version (which is the updated one), and after i exit BIOS and restarted console, it said I need a License to activate it. What could I have done in BIOS to trigger this?

Updating the BIOS as part of the ECN would require a new licence as the hardware fingerprint of the console would have changed. Just opening the BIOS settings and viewing them should not affect your licence. The BIOS in ECN-0204 is setup to have all the correct defaults so you should not change the BIOS settings after this ECN has been applied, doing so may make the console unstable. If you think you may have changed any settings then use the Load Setup Defaults option (F9/Effect button) to return the settings to default. Prior to ECN-0204, you should use the instructions here to setup the BIOS.
