Which console?

Postby Titanium » 14 Mar 2016, 02:44

Hello everyone, I've searched but didn,t find any topic where people were asking this, so I decided to open a new thread.

I have been usind Martin Light Jockey but it is the time to evolve into something Pro grade and I would like to gather some opinions from you Premier league professionals.

So, I have a little company and I will be starting to need something better than the MLJ and I am wondering what console should I buy.

in my inventory I have:
12x Martin Mac 250
8x Robe Pointe
8x Sharpy
12x 15x17 LED Beams
2x Martin Atomic 3000
Par cans, par leds...and a few other stuff

I have been looking at Avolites tiger touch I or II, Avolites PEARL and Expert pro. I really like the idea of a compact console on the Tiger touch, but it has little faders, would you agree that it would be hard to work on it?
In terms of reliability I've read a few things on the Tiger touch and I am kind of scared, being new to avolites would you not reccomend it?
Which would you say is more rider friendly?

Thank you for your replies in advance.

I've never had any reliability issues.

Given that you're moving from LJ I would imagine any number of physical faders and buttons is a bonus.

The software is incredibly flexible meaning there are plenty of ways to maximise the faders/buttons and touch screens. All the Titan consoles are rider friendly. Since they all use the same software showfile are cross-compatible where relevant and programming is the same. So it really comes down to budget and console size/weight.

If budget and size is not limited then I would go for the Arena. Otherwise Tiger Touch II.

Hello and thank you for your reply Niclights.

I've just came from the Avolites dealer and been looking at the Arena they had in the showroom with the delicious and most recent Clay Paky fixtures.
The arena is definatelly an awesome product but quite a bit out of budget for me at the moment.
Still, there was something that left me thinking, how does it work between fader pages if they are not motorized faders? It seems tricky at this point.

Lets see what prices the dealer proposes and I might just order this month. :)

Depending on your user settings, you can fire multiple playbacks on the same fader. After changing back to a page you have to level match the fader before it takes control thus avoiding the level jumping unexpectedly. There is also the Active Playbacks window that shows you all currently fired playbacks, from any page, and allows you to kill them and perform other actions.
