Tiger Touch Issue Help!

Postby roryj0505 » 28 Dec 2015, 18:17

Hi Guys,

I need some help with my tiger touch.

The touch screen is not effected by touch on and off. Sometimes restarting the machine fixes it.

And now for some reasons once Titan starts, all the buttons stop working? They are active on the console startup but once titan gets going none of them work.

Any help would be great!
thanks

This sounds like hardware to me.

First, with power disconnected, open the console and make sure all connectors are seated properly, particularly the usb cables from panels to hubs.

Then, after backing up any required showfiles, run a full erase 9.0 recovery, install 9.1 over the top and check/update any out-of-date panel firmware in Usb Expert Console. This will ensure all the software/firmware is clean and up-to-date.

If the problem persists contact service.

Thanks Nic

I'll try that next.

I'm downloading the new titan software and recovery creator at the min. Do I just through it on to the desk and execute the file to upgrade?

After downloading the recovery creator launch it on a PC and follow the instructions. If done correctly you will end up with a bootable Usb thumbdrive (recommended 4GB). Place this in the console, turn on and follow the prompts. Titan will start when the process has finished. After running a full erase recovery you will need to license the software*. If you have done this before you can use the one that was emailed to you. Otherwise fill in the form on the online Titan Licensing page to request a new one (a temporary license will be issued immediately which will be valid for two weeks which will be more than enough to cover you until a full one can be sent).

* Note that if you were updating from a version prior to 7.3 then you may get a 'Dongle not found' message. In that case update the panel firmware via Usb Expert Console then restart the software.

Once this is complete copy the 9.1 installer executable to the root directory of a Usb thumbdrive and place in the console. Shutdown the software from the Tools menu then go to Tools/Control Panel/Titan Installers, select the TigerTouch installer to begin installation and follow the prompts.

Use Rufus or RMPrep to make the stick bootable before running recovery creator.

Thanks for your help so far nic. I've completely reinstalled titan and move on to version 9.1.

Everything is going perfect apart from the touch screen just stopped being responsive to touch again for no reason.

After a restart its working again but for how long?? Something weird is going on.

Any ideas?

It lasted long enough for me to do a calibration and then stopped working again :-(

You said in your first post about buttons also not working. This makes me wonder if the problem is more than just the screen/cable. Did you mention this?

I did a fresh install of Titan 9.1, from scratch an that sorted all the panels out. It seems that its the small circuit board in the middle of the touch screen that is the issue. When the green light is on the touch screen works but it seems to just 'fizzle' out and stop, and then the touch screen stops working.

I spoke with a guy from Avo and he told me to reseat the connections and try and new USB port but its the same issue over and over.

This brings me to thing the board and/or cable need to be replaced.

Would you agree?

To be honest I'd love to swop the whole screen out for one of the the Tiger Touch 2. The original is a bit.........shit??!! haha

I would say does sound like a fault with that board, certainly if the green LED just fades or flickers out. Maybe cable/port but if it always comes on at the start and then goes off then unlikely. Cable faults are more likely to be intermittent and go on/off when touched/moved. However, I would imagine it is possible to just change the little board. The screen itself sounds fine. Definitely needs to be discussed properly with service though. Suggest call on Monday and speak to Lee.

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to retrofit new screens to old consoles as they're larger. Could be wrong.

Nic is correct the physical size of the TT2 screen is different to the original so you can't replace one with the other.

ok thanks lads.

The other issue I'm having is trying to reinstate the Titan licence, doing every thing I'm told with token file and pictures etc and it says that my submission is failed because the serial number doesn't match the Titan number or something like that?? And that it wants me to do another recovery from the stick inside the console which I REALLLY don't want to have to do.
