Ive installed the V9 recovery file on a boot drive, loaded onto my expert 3 times now and it keeps staying at v 8.1.
The downloaded file definately says 9.0, Ive ran it, done everything according to the instructions, set the boot priority back to hard drive, let it setup, and it still remains at 8.1 after all that.
Is the downloadable file correct for Expert on your site? Is there something else Im missing?
Should I delete all other recoveries off of the Desks drives?
Thanks
Billy.

Re: Installing V9
I've just tried this and it worked ok for me.
Please check the following steps:
- Download recovery creator to PC
- Place Usb stick in PC and launch creator
- Select Usb stick as destination and leave 'format' ticked
- Start the creator (I had to disable Anti Virus)
- Once complete (took approx 13 mins in my test) remove stick and place in console
- Power up console and enter BIOS
- Change boot so 1st Device is 'Usb Device'
- F10/Y to save/exit
- After a few minutes you should see a screen asking if you want to perform standard or full erase
- Choose 'Standard' to retain showfiles and license
- Accept T&C and enter console serial number to complete
- After another few minutes remove stick when prompted and select restart
- Enter BIOS and change 1st boot device back to 'Hard Disk'
- F10/Y to save/exit and begin installation
- Once complete console will automatically restart with Titan

Re: Installing V9
Yeah weird.
Were you using the file from Pearl Expert on the download page? Should I try a tiger touch file?
I did exactly that 3 times now, It looks like its making progress, it definately works like a boot disk, I went through all the process, but yeah, it comes up 8.1 after it boots from hard disk.
That said, after I pull the usb stick and redo BIOS, and reboot console, it definately is loading a new program, windows is installing files, etc...
Ill try and download off a different link, that has happened to me before with the Expert.

Yes, tested using the link from the download page. It will only work with the Pearl Expert recovery. I'm not aware of any other links. Make sure it is set to format the Usb stick when creating. The only other thing I can suggest is to perform a full erase recovery instead of standard. If you do this make sure you backup any showfiles first. You will need to enter the license code again.

Re: Installing V9
Just did a full erase, and it reverted back to 6.0.
I have a older expert, still white, but I had to do the firmware update where I put in a new SSD and USB drive, if that is helpful.
Now I cant get the thing back to even 8.1.

Re: Installing V9
Not sure what you mean by new Usb drive.
This doesn't make any sense. I can't see how it could 'revert' or be anything other than v9. When you create the recovery stick it's effectively like having a windows install disk on a stick which wipes the drive and installs the new operating system. So it's impossible for there to be anything left.
The only thing I can think of is whether you have another recovery stick connected at the same time, perhaps inside the console?

Re: Installing V9
Right, which is my thinking as well.
My Folders Directory has:
System (C:)
Data (D:)
Then Devices with Removable Storage:
CD Drive (E:)
KINGSTON (F:)
I cant find where Kingston is anywhere, I have nothing plugged into any of my external ports, and the only odd thing in the internal ones is the dongle USB that was for the firmware upgrade, and it has no data on it, and removing it doesnt get rid of my (F:)
Opening up the F: drive has folders:
Boot
EFI
PearlExpert
Sources
Titan
and a Bootmgr file.
These were all created/modified in summer 2012, and Ive updated all the way up to 8.1 since

Re: Installing V9
The Kingston device is the problem. It must be there. Can you post a photo showing the top of the motherboard and both Usb hubs?

Re: Installing V9
Okay, get this:
So I went one by one unplugging the usb hubs on the board, to see if that drive would disappear from my directory, nothing.
I right clicked on it, then hit "eject" drive, which left the drive there, but when I clicked on it to open, it said "Please insert a disk into removable disk (F:)"
So I restarted, with the recovery stick, it didnt read because I had it inserted into the front USB port, I moved it to the back USB ports, and now Im running 9.0 (Is there a reason why the front port didnt work?)
So.
Never seen a "ghost drive" remain with data, (F:) is still in my directory but now I cant open it, which is fine. Somehow it was always loading an 8.1 recovery disk from there, and not reading the disk with 9.0 on it. Could it have been some partition that was created by earlier updates?

Re: Installing V9
Glad you've got it working!
As far as I am aware the full erase option repartitions and reformats so nothing could remain.
There should be two Usb ports above the motherboard and two sets of seven on the hubs underneath the DMX panels. All the connected devices should be wired with the exception of one dongle. The front port and the dongle should both be connected to the hubs (not the ports above the motherboard). There should not be any Usb 'sticks' connected other than the dongle.
Also, although unrelated, the DVD player should be disconnected if it is SATA. IDE is ok.

Re: Installing V9
Hi! I'm in need of advice on a problem I'm having with the V9.0 software installation on my Pearl Expert.
I've tried to upgrade the console from V8.1 to V9.0, following the required procedure, but an error occured when it came to file extraction from the USB device. The extraction started normaly, but at one point the console showed, that it failed to extract WIM image and that an Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. I've tried to repeat the procedure several times, but the same error occured. How can I fix the problem?

Re: Installing V9
Try formatting the stick and then running the recovery creator again. Some users have found that with certain sticks running Rufus first to format the stick has made it work.
