Titan Mobile dropping out DMX lines

Postby pitchblacklx » 18 Aug 2014, 11:52

Hi, had a strange experience with TM this weekend. Wondered if anyone else had experienced the same problem or had any ideas as to what may be going wrong?

Operating over 2 universes, TM dropped out universe 2. I retained control of U1.
Absolutely no output from U2 as some of my fixtures went into their default stand-alone when they don't receive DMX.
Re-booted Titan Software.
No fix.
Shut down computer and did a complete re-boot.
No fix.
Changed DMX cables. Tried running U1's feed into the U2 chain to test the integrity of the U2 chain and leads. Fine.
Re-patched U2 to U3.
This fixed things for a while, but I then had the same problem with 3 and ended up re-patching to U4.

U4 behaved fine for 2 days.
Then had signal drop out again - but this time some kind of signal must have been getting through as my fixtures didn't got into stand-alone.
Total re-boot of the computer and I was up and running again.

Throughout this, U1 was absolutely solid.

I am baffled. :?
Any ideas?!

Sounds like a hardware issue. The panels work in pairs of outputs so I guess it must be a problem on the panels themselves. My instincts are that there is a fault on the line. If it wasn't for the fact that reboot seems to fix I would say bad voltage coming back down the line from a faulty fixture was blowing the driver IC's. In any case I suggest you contact service ASAP. If you're in the UK then phone if possible.
