Avolites Pearl tiger sound to Light help!!!

Hi, i'm trying to setup my avolites pearl tiger to sound to light function. Reading the manual, it states
1> Turn on the Chase ( or connect it ) and press A Chase parameters, the manual fails to state you need to be in run mode and select a swop to make the sound to light to, if you go to run, chase, you have to pick a swop or the led screen says "Quit"
2>Press E ( Sound to Light ) to select low, medium, or high trigger. Did this
3> Turn the key to run mode and press E "Enable sound to light"
4>When the chase is turned on, it will step in time to the sound signal.
4> Press E, again, to turn off sound activation

I have done all these steps carefully, and have again and again failed. My first attempt was to try and set it up VIA AUX, running it to my yamaha M7CL, and sending signal to the avolites. Then I setup a Microphone to the back and faced it towards the speaker, the knob for volume is all the way up!

Theres also other steps the book says to do.

turn the chase links off and set fade times to zero to get a true sound to light chase ( did this )
You can make some linked steps and some other unlinked steps to give a cchase which runs on a few steps for every audio pulse.

All in all, I have failed to properly get sound to light function work. im still new to intelligent lighting and would love if anyone can tell me what im missing to make this work. I feel like it is 1-2 steps in missing but im close.
