Tracking Pearl2004

Postby Cellus » 26 Sep 2005, 17:56

I've tried to define a stage with Pearl 2004, using 4 ROBE scan 575 AT4, using the last personality file from AVO.
top left --> top right --> bottom right --> bottom left (in this order)
and then Enter, it seems to work ok.
But after training , :!: the scan points in the backstage, or outside the stage.
I tried to reduce Pan and tilt to the minimum possibile values (<50%).

The units were placed in the bottom of the stage, in line.
The unit were hanged.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you mean the scan 575 XT?

If so I've just had a quick look at the personality file it looks like the panMax and tiltMax values may be wrong, this could be the problem

Hi Ed,
i have made the same slip during the setting of the show!.

I have a ROBE 575E AT used in mode 4 (21ch)
(personality file on disk 3 ROAT5754)
For this fixture the max pan is 530 and max tilt 280.
Do i have to limit this values on the unit ?
I i limit pan and tilt i have to modify the personality file too?

Thank

I don't have time to look, but 530/280 are the values that should be in the personality file for AT according to website. This is moving yoke.

There does not appear to be an AT model of moving-mirror. Values for moving-mirror 575XT = Pan, 147.4/Tilt, 115.2

Edit personality files accordingly for moving yoke or moving mirror accordingly.
This is third edit of post! Robe have managed to come up with the most confusing fixture names.... grrr

The file you mentioned (ROAT5754) is the personality file for the Robe Colour Spot 575 AT.

Could you be using the wrong personality on the fixture?

I use a Robe Colour Spot 575E AT with the personality ROBE ROAT5754.

I think values in the personality file are correct.
Now i want to try to change PPmin PPmax and TTmin -TTmax on the fixture, to help the Pearl finding the stage.

If i do this, i have to change the personality file ??
May i have to rotate the fixture?

Whatever the PanMax and TiltMax values are on the fixture need to be reflected in the personality. So if you change the settings on the fixture, you should change these two values in the personality.

You shouldn't need to rotate the fixture if you make your changes to it whilst it is in its locate position.

Presumably you did not mean to say 'scan' in your first post! This indicates moving-mirror.

Make sure your units are all hung the same way, ie tails to Stage Left or similar. Also make sure they are hung underneath a truss/bar - ie. locate position is vertical/down, not horizontal/straight out.

Correct niclights.
I have moving head.
All units are hung underneath a truss/bar at the same way
and exactly distanced between each other . (but i think this not interesting ..).

For 2 fixture pan and tilt are normal, for the other 2 are reversed.

I tried again to define a stage with the same result. (all 4 fixture point only in the backdrop and there is a "point" from which pan and tilt (using the weels) are freezed (about28%) . With the graphics tablet moves somewhere.

Any suggestion?

Why is P/T reversed on two fixtures? Is this intentional, or are you saying this is not what you expect?

If all fixtures are hung identically in line as you say, then you should have Pan and Tilt the same for all. Check fixture settings are identical, then check Invert settings on Pearl (Patch/Patch Utilities). You need a VDU to see actual settings, or you can just do it blind!

Pan/Tilt invert on any units (especially moving-heads) will explain the problem you are having with tracking. It will also give many problems with shapes.
