Azure 2000 Reset ML Pan/Tilt to 50/50

Postby Tallysrfr » 11 Jan 2013, 19:36

Hello. I'm having trouble with ML's using "Locate Fixture" returning to 50/50. It says it's at 50/50, but it's off on both pan & tilt. Is there a way to move them manually to the correct position & then reset it to 50/50? I'm using Osiris SETH MR250S's. Also, they will not work with palettes. The THOT MR600SZ's do fine. I put in a bug report months ago and have not heard anything back. If anyone knows how to edit the personality file to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it. The filename is OSSM25S2.R20.
Thanks,
Bryan

The only way to change the locate values is to edit the personality. This is easy to do although you will not be able to retain any existing programming for these fixtures. Strange that they would be wrong though. If they are a long way out be certain it's not a fixture fault before adjusting.

Example of the code from Seth MR250 Spot Mode 2, 16DMX (OSSM25S2.R20):

Code: Select all

DMX
10    1   L    1   100   1N   0   1   "Control"           4     0     0
1     1   H    2   100   1N   H   1   "Dimmer"          255     0     0
2    61   L    3   100   1N   O   1   "Shutter"          14     0     0
3    61   s    4   100   1N   E   1   "Pan"             128     0     0
0     0   L   15   100   1N   E   1   "Pan Low"         128     0     0
3     1   s    5   100   1N   F   1   "Tilt"            128     0     0
0     0   L   16   100   1N   F   1   "Tilt Low"        128     0     0
4     1   I    6   100   1N   A   1   "Colour 1"          4    24    14
6     1   I    7   100   1N   I   1   "Gobo 1"            4     0     0
6    61   I    8   100   1N   J   1   "Gobo 2"           10     0     0
7    61   L    9   100   1N   M   1   "Gobo 2 Rot"        0     0     0
5    61   L   10   100   1N   L   1   "Focus"           127     0     0
9     1   I   11   100   1N   P   1   "Prism"            64     0     0
9    61   L   12   100   1N   R   1   "Prism Rot"         0     0     0
10   61   L   13   100   1N   0   1   "Blackout"         14     0     0
8     1   L   14   100   1N   0   1   "P/T Speed"         4     0     0
END

The relevant values are currently 128 to the right of Pan, Pan Low, Tilt and Tilt Low.

Regarding palettes do you mean the 'preset palettes' that are an option to create automatically when patching or do you mean palettes that you create manually?

Thanks for responding so quickly. It doesn't work with the preset palettes. I don't know about ones I created. The only ones I have created so far are position palettes using the 600ZS, and they don't work with the 250's. As for the pan/tilt, I think there may be a belt or gear that slipped.
Thanks,
Bryan

Make sure you are using the latest personalities. That fixture had updates on 19/11/2012 including adding preset palettes.

Cool! My bad. I didn't see the date had changed. Would you happen to know where I can get info on fixing the mechanical problems? I have four others that have "jerky" pans, stuck prisms, etc.
Thanks so much,
Bryan

Many people including myself will service and repair their own fixtures. They don't tend to be particularly technical. If you don't feel confident then I suggest looking around locally for people who have experience working on moving lights. Try asking house engineers at venues etc.

I just ran APS4.exe, which installed APS.CMP on my HD, which I copied to a floppy disk. How do I load it on to the board? The manual says I need another file, P2000PER.CMP.
Thanks again,
Bryan

P2000PER.CMP is for the internal cache. This is only necessary if you want the files to be available on the console without needing a floppy. If you want to do this you need to use the Cachebuilder application. Otherwise just extract the files to the floppy and patch directly from that.

BTW, there isn't anyone in my area that repairs ML's. So if anyone can tell me where to find info or a good book on the subject, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.
