Universe assignment macros

Hi all. Hope this is the correct place to ask this.
What I'm looking to do is record a macro or two that assigns Artnet out to a number of universes and can toggle on or off or else have one macro for on and one for off.
When recording on an Arena in version 15.1 it would go through the steps except for the actual universe assignment, ie it would open the menu, go to dmx settings and then it just seems to do nothing from there.
Is this possible?
The idea being to be exchanging control between the console and say a VJ on some LEDs or similar
