new user - LED flash

Postby trust.the.dirt » 14 Mar 2022, 02:46

I want to create a button on the playbacks window that can be used to flash the hex LED fixtures into a bright, warm incandescent-like flash with an fade in of, say 20ms and a fade out of around 250ms, mimicking the blinders that you might see at a rock concert that radiate heat and are quickly flashed on and off. How would I go about this?

I have pretty basic knowledge, and am currently using the fixtures with a chase where I can toggle them between ambient and highlighting settings. I would want to keep this functionality and have it fade back to that cue as the incandescent glow fades.

Also, is there a way to create a playback button that brings the strobe and CO2 dimmers up when held down and then turn them off when let go, or failing that, a toggle mode.

I also don't understand the way that changing info with the wheels causes it to stay set, even when playbacks are fired. How do I change this?
Sorry for all the questions!

For the blinder flash with timing you can set the playback fade in to 0.02s, fade out 0.25s and change the key profile for the playback such that the touch action is timed flash. For example hold the Options button (right-click on PC) -> <select playback> -> Add New -> (optionally give it a name) [Ok] -> <select the button you want to set the action for, ie. the playback handle or [Touch/ Executor Key]> -> [Timed Flash].

The curve on a tungsten blinder is not linear though. Potentially you can get closer to the tunsten fade out by (carefully!) editing the Curve.xml file in Program Files\Avolites\Titan\FixtureLibrary, adding a custom curve and setting the playback to use this curve in the playback options (perhaps also then increasing the fade out time). The exact curve necessary and how effective it will be will be dependent on the fixture. For the most realistic you would also want the colour temperature to change according to intensity. Some LED blinders offer this (typically referred to as 'red shift').

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean about a chase with ambient and highlighting settings but dimmers are HTP (highest takes precedence) so the highest value will take priority.

Similarly, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the playback button that brings up the strobe and CO2 dimmers. The default action for playback handles in the playbacks window is latch (ie. toggle). You can change this action to flash via key profiles as described above. The dimmers will behave as HTP. If you would like other controls such as shutter/strobe to return to a previous value when the playback is killed you can include the relevant attribute group in the release mask (for example Intensity).

Example custom curve:

Code: Select all
