Titan PC Suit V9.1 Simulator vs TitanNet Backup

Postby tymenabels2 » 25 Apr 2016, 22:15

Hello Forum members

I do have a use case in which i need some support.
I do want to see the capabilities of the TitanNet Backup functionalities.

My setup is as follows

1 laptop with titan suite 9.1 installed is running titan tiger touch simulator. and has ip address in the 2.x.x.x range with subnet 255.0.0.0 (A-segment)
the other laptop is also running version 9.1 installed with tiger touch simulator and has an ip address in the 2.x.x.x range with subnet 255.0.0.0 (A-Segment)

The network connection is directly between those 2 laptops with a 10GB capable wire and both do have a 1000mbp/s network ethernet connection.

Once I view the Titannet network sessions, I can see the other IP address only it is stated as a 'unknown device'
Besides 'Master Address' the IP is visible and it is the IP address of the other laptop
Can someone help me out in setting up the sessions in the correct manner, So I can see with using the simulators what the backup and multi user sessions are capable of.

Thanks for the reaction.
Kind regards,
Tymen

This could be due to ping not being allowed through one or both of the firewalls. One way to do this is to go to Network and Sharing Center and select Advanced sharing settings from the left. Within that screen there options to Turn on network discovery for the different network profiles, note that if you are on a static IP you are probably in the Public profile which is normally locked down. Also please ensure that the Titan Simulator software, both Titan.exe and TitanSimulator.exe, are allowed through the firewall for both incoming and outgoing connections. Normally we recommend connecting via a Gigabit switch as it provides a more reliable connection.

Hello Gregory,

It was indeed a combination of Firewall versus Network Discovery.
Therefore I was not able to start a session towards the other console.

I turned on network dicovery in the advanced options for sharing on both my laptops.
I have to sort the firewall rules out even more to tighten the security in a mature way, but that is something I will be capable of. (for test purposes only, I temporary disabled the firewall and tested the connection in a closed network, so no internet connectivity).

Now I am able to setup the connection! thank you.
And I am really impressed the way it is working, As well as backup as multi user session are very nice enhancements.

Something what draw my attention, is that on the slave console, the visualizer is not working. Somehow it cannot draw the layout. You will have to set your visualizer on the master console.

Thanks again.

Visualiser will not currently work on slave consoles, if you open the window on a slave I would expect it to display Visualiser Unavailable.
