Hi Guys,
I have requested a personality bug fix (ADJ 5P HEX) but in the meantime decided to have a go at fixing it myself! I decided the best thing to do would be to modify the existing file and save it as a different version so I could revert to the original if I mess it up. I changed the manufacturer name and file name and tried to save the new version into the fixture library but I keep getting a message that says I need Administrator rights.
I am the only user on the PC and am set as an administrator. Any idea what is going on??

Re: Saving personality files
This is standard Windows permissions to prevent users from accidentally overwriting files in the Program Files directory. However you should not need to do this as there is another directory under your Documents folder called Titan\Personalities where you can store all your custom personalities. This second directory will not get overwritten when you update from the website in future and all personalities from this folder are automatically shown with (User) after the fixture name so you can distinguish them from the originals (even if otherwise they have the same name).
As an alternative route, within the TitanOne software you can go to Patch > Edit Fixtures > Edit Personality, select the fixture you wish to modify and the software will copy the personality to the Documents folder for you and open Personality Builder. While in that menu whenever you save changes to the file it will offer to copy those changes to the fixture stored within the show.

Re: Saving personality files
Thanks for the reply. I should have spotted this in the manual (but there are a lot of pages)! The updated personality USER files feature is excellent. I assume that if I delete a modified file from the user directory the system then defaults back to the Titan main personality directory?
Another question - if I create a colour palette that applies to a group of fixtures, can I modify the palette by adding or removing fixtures? For example; I have a palette button that changes three different types of fixture to white. I then patch in a new fixture and want the same colour palette handle to also make the new fixture white. If not, what would be the easiest way to achieve this. At the moment I have a button that says "all fixtures white" and I have added a new fixture which I would like included.

Re: Saving personality files
Re. personality files it will always look in both directories where any personalities from the custom folder will appear with '(User)' appended when patching. Once a fixture is patched it becomes part of the showfile and remain independant from and unaffected by any changes to files in the personality folders.
Re. palettes if you create 'Global' palettes they will apply to all fixtures, including fixtures patched later. Shared palettes will apply to all fixtures of a given type/mode. Normal palettes only apply to the specific fixtures recorded.
