Updating to 8.0 (License issues)

Postby AndyMcL74 » 29 Aug 2014, 19:48

Hi guys,

Firstly, let me give you some background. The crew I'm part of currently have a laptop running TitanOne connected to an external display. All this was purchased and set up for us by a local AV company (i.e. when we got the laptop, v7.2 was already installed etc. and we could start to patch fixtures when loading it for the first time without having to enter anything etc.).

I downloaded & installed v8.0 today. All was going well (dongle updated and so on) until it requested a license.

Hmm.

With the software having been installed for us, we have no license code or anything like that. I presumed it would be transferred automatically to the new version (didn't read up enough first! ). Also, with no access to the account that the software was originally purchased from (i.e. the AV company's account), we can't look at any product/license info that may be linked to the account online. Nothing was given to us in relation to documentation... just the laptop (with activated 7.2 installed), dongle, and screen.

Therefore, is there any way of retrieving a valid license (i.e. the 7.2 license) that will activate v8.0? I've tried to request a temporary license, however it requires a serial number (something that, again, either we don't have or don't know where to look for!)

Any help would be much appreciated! :D

(PS - I realise I may have rushed into the update without thinking it through first - my bad! )

The new licensing system didn't start until 7.3. You should just be able fill in all the details on the licensing page. Have you tried this yet?

Not yet, as I can't find the serial number. Would this be currently accessible? If so where do I find it?

Many thanks for the reply!

Is it not marked on the dongle?

It was, yes. I was expecting a software serial number, as opposed to looking at the dongle which we hardly touch once it's plugged in! My bad

Thanks for all your help, I now have (what appears to be) a fully licensed 8.0. Thanks again! :D

Please just check it is a full license and not a temporary license by going to System (Shift + Disk) and ensuring it does not say "License Days Remaining: *".

Hi Olie, thanks for the tip, I can confirm it doesn't say that, it simply says 'Version 8.0'.

Thanks again :)

Upon install of 8.0, and pointing it at my license, my system now stops at a point where it wants to connect to a network session. It won't let me past that screen. Advice?
