No DMX control

Postby jason71 » 05 May 2014, 23:37

Hi there, new user. Was previously on myDMX, brought Titan One as it looks to give me the features I want for my DJ lightshow.
Ok..
Plugged the Dongle in, Drivers loaded, reboot for good measure. I run the USB Expert and it said there was an update. I applied the update.
However, I'm very sure I've driving the software correctly, but the 2 fixtures I'm using are not responding.

Running USB Expert, shows "Titan One Dmx Panel 1" with a "Chip Configuration Error" in the status pane:

Windows device manager reports no problems for the 2 Avolites devices.

I currently have 2 fixtures. 11 channel scanners.
They are correctly grouped.
I click ML Menu then Locate Fixtures.
I then click on the Group (so I guess this would control all/both fixtures).
I then click the "I" to allow me to adjust the Dimmer - nothing happens on the fixture.
I try the pan/tilt, again nothing happens on the fixture.

So, I'm currently stuck!

I guess, the "error" I see above - is that a problem? I can see another post regarding this, but it appears to not be a major issue for that member.

How can I tell if the software is using the DMX Dongle (as opposed to a simulator?). I can see the DMX settings under System, but its not clear what I should see (I can't see anything labeled as "Titan One DMX Panel 1"

Any help is greatful!

Cheers,
Jason

Just an update - still no obvious output.

Titan One appears at the top of the main software screen. From reading the YouTube videos, this indicates it is using the Hardware Dongle (and not a simulator)
I've double-checked the DMX mapping, it is using "DMX Expert" on Line 1.

Other than that, I'm very confident I should be seeing some kind of movement or Lamp effects on the fixture.

The DMX addresses are correct on the fixtures and Titan One software. (I'm actually focused on the first fixture with address 001, but have lots of experience in DMX/Industrial networking).

On the Dongle, the TX (green) LED is flashing (about 5 or 10 times per second).

Is there a master Fader that I'm missing or anything else?

Currently I'm using Locate Fixtures, selecting the Group (I've 2 identical scanners), and trying the position/dimmer/colour/gobo controls to find any activity. This is in my home.

What else... is the DMX output swapped for 3-way XLR? It came with an adapter to convert from 5-way to 3-way. As the 1st fixture is directly in front of me, I'm physically connected from the Titan One Dongle, through the 5-way to 3-way converter and into the 1st fixture.

Thanks for reading - I hope this is user error...

Just to check ...

your 5 to 3 pin adapter is wired pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, pin 3 to pin 3 ( 4&5 are not used in this application )
