Suceess :P

At last a file that works.

Swapped the Channels a round as Per nics ( had tried this before ) but the main success this time was also that I spotted some other errors in the file.

1.The Pan/Tilt speed was set the wrong away round by default so the head was operating at the slowest possible speed

2. The dimmer had a start at DMX 0 -255 instead of DMX 129 - 255

3. The shutter was also Closed.

Will log all this on the Personality Web site Bug for both Versions.

My thanks for your help gentlemen

Can see a few More questions on the modes and Attributes in the future as not got to the bottom of this but at least a file that works. Would still like to program a file from scratch so will keep going on this same head

Glad you got it working. That file does look a bit of a mess now I look more closely. Some of the attributes have all the hallmarks of a file that was created without a manual, but others are quite detailed. I note that shutter is only detailed as 'shutter', 'strobe speed', 'beam out'. Specific info here from you will help!

Nic If i go through the file now with my knowledge and tweak it, Would also look at the Version 2 head as I have its manual, then send it to you for a check could you send to Avolites .

Would that be easier or report all the errors to Avolites on the Web site.

Have you ever given the v2 perso a try? Pan/Tilt byte order, dimmer range... everything in there already.

Just wondering.

Yes ( and it didnt work)

Tried it during the show a week ago and it is the same as the V1.

The main difference between the heads is around the Gobos wheels. Each Gobo in the both the Gobo wheel has a "shake function added to it.

First glance of the v2 file makes it look like a cut and paste of the v1 file

If you want to update both and send to me I'm happy to check and forward. It would be helpful but obviously don't feel obliged.

Personality Builder newby

So i need to build a personality for a LED moving head. I have a Pearl 2010.
Im new to all this stuff. My approach was to do a partial build just with a few features, like colour intensity, and pan and tilt, and then add other things like, strobe, focus, colour mix, etc. later. my first attempt failed, in that the pearl didnt even see the file on the usb stick. Is there anything you have to do to the file, or put it in a specific folder etc. I built the file (partially) then saved as a .R2 file. Any tips?

Hi Denis,

you're right, must be a special folder. The folder structure needs to be like this:

Code: Select all

/AVOLITES
   /FIXTURES
      /R20
         SG.dat (required for shapes)
         /{Manufacturers}
            your_personality.R20

E.g. if you made a file named MYTEST01.R20 and put it in a folder /AVOLITES/FIXTURES/R20/MYPERSOS/, then you can patch it as fixture 'MYTEST01' from manufacturer 'MYPERSOS'

Thanks very much. That worked.
How do I permanently copy a file into the desk memory, so I don't have to load from the stick each time. ( probably a very dumb question, but I
Vaguely remember something about running a piece of software to do this!).

Assuming the stick is prepared okay (and the fact that you can patch from there suggests this):

- system
- USB stick options
- sync fixtures

Have fun :D
