Personality Builder has encountered a problem...

Postby ujjalkar » 14 May 2012, 10:06

Installed a couple of days back on my PC. Everytime I try to run PB, it gives the infamous msg box with the usual "Personality Builder has encountered a problem and needs to...etc"

Details:

Pentium Dual core 2.8 GHz 3GB RAM
GEForce 7300 SE (512MB) with dual monitor

Win XP Home V2002 SP2

MS .NET Framework 4 Client Profile & Extended

MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable

What am I missing ?

I'd try the DotnetFX 3.5 SP 1 Full install: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=25150

Client Profile is only a subset of the full thing - and in general DotnetFX doesn't iterate very well (i.e. you cannot assume version 4 having all features of the previous ones)

Please could you send the log files from your computer by going to Start > Programs > Avolites > Tools > Log Collector. If you do not have Log Collector installed you can download it from the following page: http://www.avolites.com/Support/ServiceandRepairs.aspx. When you run it press Go and select a folder to save the log files to, it will then create a zip file containing Avolites log files from your computer. Please email that zip file to fixturesupport_AT_avolites.com (replacing _AT_ with an @ symbol).

Something you could try in the meantime is to delete the configuration file, Config.xml from this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Avolites\Personality Builder. Replace username with the user account you use to log on to your computer; you may need to enable ‘Show hidden files and folders’ in Folder Options to make the directory visible.

Also ensure you have the latest version (v2.2) by downloading it from http://www.avolites.com/Support/Software/PersonalityBuilder.aspx and installing it.
