Visualiser Personality Help!
Hello, I'm wondering if someone could help out with two .vis personalities: The Pearl River XL 1200 Extended Mode (http://www.pr-lighting.com/pro_info.php?id=260&cid=110) and Pearl River Pilot Wash 1200 (http://www.pr-lighting.com/pro_info.php ... &cid=11810)
I've got a gig coming up next week using a ton of these and I've never tried to make a visualiser personality and probably would be very slow at it!
Also, has anyone used the Titan personality for these yet? Are they correct?
Thanks to anyone in advance.

For the XL1200 Ext:
- get this file: http://www.avolites.de/test/icke_siegen ... 200Ext.zip
- unzip, and move the contained folder 'Avolites' to c:\program files. This way, you change/add 3 files (however, you can do this manually as well - I am sure you'll understand and find the folders).
I only made a preliminary version, thus please don't expect everything working as in real life (heck, Visualiser can't do this anyway) - but it does work, and should give you a good starting point for adjusting it yourself. I'll submit this to FixtureSupport - Peter does a marvelous job, so there is a good chance a final version makes it into the official library.
Not sure if I have the time for the other thingy today.

And the file for the Pilot Wash is here: http://www.avolites.de/test/icke_siegen ... 00Wash.zip - procedure is like previously described. this time it's 4 files, which go to vis/persos and vis/exts.
This is preliminary as well. In particular,
- I put some 'random colours' on the colour wheel, just to see the rainbow effect. Please don't expect any resemblance with reality - the manual just mentions 'Colour filter 1'.
- CMY are implemented as just faders 0...100%. The manual states some ranges (e.g. 'Cyan enter gradually'; 'Cyan from light to dark' ...) - no idea what this might be. But this must be corrected in the d4 personality as well, as soon as there is better information how these ranges behave. So, it might well be that your colour mixes will behave oddly with the real fixtures.
edit: link corrected - thanks Niclights!

haha, thanks Nic
I'm using the XL 1200 profile on my vis and it's working great, thanks! I'll get the Pilot Wash 1200 going soon. One more question: I'm also using a Pilot Wash 575, and while the personality is mostly working correctly, the dimmer is inverted (full is at 0%, no light output at 100%), is there a simple way to change that?
Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated!

Good call, I think it's wrong on the Titan profile... the dimmer is defaulted to 255. How can I change that to 0?
I can see why it would be wrong, if you look at their little DMX channel mapping picture (http://www.pr-lighting.com/pro_info.php ... &cid=11810), it looks like the dimmer might go from 100% to 0%, but if you read the text it says 0% to 100%

I don't ever use those glorious pictures unless I'm really desperate.
However, from the manual:
0=wholly open; 255=wholly closed
So, I'd conclude it is correct in the personality, according to the manual. Not that this is necessarily correct either. Sometimes the only way to know for sure is try for real. Them's the breaks I'm afraid!

I'd say it's wrong in the vis profile - of course, if you could confirm this with the real thing, you'd help making Avo's persos better
- open c:\program files\Avolites\Visualiser\Extensions\PR575PW.VIS in notepad or some text editor
- find this section:
- change the line 'Mapping...' to
- save, close, patch again...
Ah, and sorry for the wrong link - I'll fix it, in case someone else stumbles upon it, and doesn't read Nic's answer
- open c:\program files\Avolites\Visualiser\Extensions\PR575PW.VIS in notepad or some text editor
- find this section:
Code: Select all
// Dimmer
ChanRef Dimmer
Vismode Value
UseBits 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
DmxOffset 2
Mapping 0 255 0 255
End
- change the line 'Mapping...' to
Code: Select all
Mapping 0 255 255 0
- save, close, patch again...

Haha, yeah, every time I see one of those pictures, I know I'm in for a rough ride. I'm betting that you are correct and the personality is correct. This is just another reason to save EVERYTHING in pallettes and to not make any cues that aren't based on pallettes..
Thank you both for your help, the Pilot Wash 1200s are up and running in my vis now, too.

Just so you know, these profiles are correct! Both the fixture profiles in the desk and vis profiles worked very well, so great job!
On a side note, the visualiser did something screwy when I started using the simulator: I pre-prorammed with the Titan Mobile with everything working fine. However, when I did the Pearl Expert in simulator, the visualiser started doing some really funky things; some of the fixtures worked like they had before, but some didn't. Also, this changed upon every time I used it (different fixtures worked and different ones did not).
That's all, it wasn't a big deal as I had done all of my pre-programming with the TM, it's just something to maybe look into.
Thanks again for your help!

There's really no difference between the Titan Simulator and TM. However, there are intentional spoilers that output random values across all channels every now and then and there are some known issues where these values can get stuck on. In my experience this is most commonly fixed colour wheel or shutter.
