How to change the attributes of a effect or shape in while live

Hello,
I’m building a busking showfile (based on my grandMA workflow) and I’m trying to adjust the spread and size of an effect while it’s running. I’ve tried using the Shape + Edit function as described on the Avolites website, but my cue doesn’t appear. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
