Can't download v6.0 from website

Postby MJF Lighting » 14 Mar 2013, 20:12

I have been trying to download the Pearl Expert v6.0 Recovery Stick Creator so we can upgrade our Pearl Expert and the download keeps failing at around 85-95%. The way the download link seems to be setup on the website does not allow the download to resume, forcing the browser to download it from scratch. I have tried different browsers and the only thing I have accomplished is using up our monthly data cap.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Does anyone know of a direct link to the file, or is there some other way I can get the file?

Issue resolved...

After a bit of poking about, I have found that removing "&forcedownload=true" from the URL of the download link allowed me to resume an almost completed download.

The webmasters may wish to remove this from the download links of other particularly large files.

I hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation.

It is difficult to recreate exactly the problems you are encountering but I have tried pausing and resuming downloads successfully from both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. We realise that the size of these files can make it difficult to download them and we will look into making this easier in future.

If it helps you, clicking on the title of the download instead of the Download link gives you a link that does not include the "&forcedownload=true" part of the URL.

From my findings if you initiate a download from the title it can be paused and resumed, whereas from the 'download' link it cannot. I think that essentially confirms both what the OP and Greg are saying. I wonder if a short-term improvement might be to remove the 'forcedownload' from the download link or get rid of it completely?
