Possible Theatre stack bug - Pearl 2004

I think Ive found a bug where a shape can be played from 'nowhere', meaning it isnt in the programmer or a cue. Lets say: Cue 1 is a circle from the shape gen which is recorded by channel, and the heads are red. Cue 2 is then open white pointing at the floor, also recorded by channel, with 100 clear...

Nope, because in order to cross the 0,0 point it would have needed to have decided to cross across the circle. i.e it wouldnt start the movement and not 'know' where to go.

Not sure about this, but you could try to 'Remove shape for selected fixtures' if the chase contains a shape from the shape gen rather than a series of moves.

I agree entirely. In the past, ive had a big noise boy mash his hand on the desk to get the lights to change. Same guy can lift a wavefront cabinet onto stage though, so I guess no software lock is enough. Might buy a cage.

On my 2004 I just enter the number I want to lock the desk with, and am then presented with the option to use that as a code.

Out of interest, does the pearl run on top of something, or is the entire software entirely bespoke?

I expect they mean if you program a transparent colour chase, then the pan and tilt etc would be unaffected.

I doubt it costs much to provide a simply USB port and controller, on a desk costing a few thousand. All they are saying is that there are other priorities for the software development at the moment. When and if they see fit to add supoprt for USB, they will! You are no worse off than if it came wit...

You dont mention what the problem actually is with the theatre stack. What specific trouble are you having?

Oh yes, forgot that. Wouldnt make sense at all to have two copies of a fixture.

I had another thought (another inelegant hack actually), which was that you could patch the fixture twice, one mirrored and use that.

Yes, I know its ugly.

A more mathematical look at it, there are two different co-ordinate systems at work in the different fixtures. Moving mirror lamps use the standard X and Y coordinates, which means up and down. Yolk fixtures use R and theta, which is the distance from the middle, and the angle. The fixture has to do...

If you have ever been tinkering inside your pearl, it may be worth venturing back inside to check the ribbon cables. I had a similar problem where the screen was refreshing without any data on it, and had forgotten to plug a ribbon cable in. Perhaps one has come loose?
