Probably a bit late and sorted by now but for future reference Its refusing to set legents. I will try to set a legend, and it refuses! I pull out the keyboard, and its definatly working - I can make the CAPs lock turn on and off! I try and type, and nothing. Hit ENTER and nothing - I have to manual...

The D4 doesn't support auto pallets - unless it was put into v2! The closest you'll get is using the @ buttons on the attribute wheels.

In that case beta 36 or later! There's been so many, I didn't keep track of which ones had which fixes in! I certainly didn't change anything after that. The AvoTString was another change from v1, so you've probably got some of the new features, but not all of them. Given that I'm not actually at Av...

AvoTalk v2 was implemented in D4 v1.5.2 over the summer, along with 1.6. This incorporated certain changes to the way things work that were essentially breaking changes, the most important of which was the change of port from 4422 (in d4 1.5.1) to 4423 (around beta 26 of v1.5.2) due to a major probl...

1) Will (without quoting figures, or you can if you want) the Expert be in the same price range as current Pearl. 1.2) Will it be more than the Saphire or other current desks? I'm in the wrong department to be able to answer those unfortunately :) If you give sales a call they might have an answer ...

Great!!!! Finally, a "powerfull" desk with faders... Only few questions: -Why Only two encoders wheels? Er... maybe one of the people involved in the design can answer that. I've not been involved enough to know! -A Preset fader can be a memory? Not at the moment. It may be possible...

Is also true about palettes though I hope with the Expert there will be 60 direct accessible + softbuttons without changing page. It's not that I don't like touch screens - that's not a problem. But I still want the faders in a traditional layout. Yup. 60 palettes (or add/swop) buttons are accessib...

I was going to suggest the same reason for colour snap. I have noticed col attribute often set to instant by default though never really understood why. Surely it makes no difference to 'wheeling', but only timed palette recall & PB timing? Otherwise you would never be able to find a colour! Ta...

I tried this and it works fine, though a colour wheel seems to always snap to it's new value, as opposed to for instance pan/tilt which listens to the time input. I don't exactly know why and if you can change this behaviour somehow. For now, try with pan/tilt and you should see results. If the pal...

Is it just LED fixtures that freeze the console? If so, what fixture are you using and in which mode?

We use Serial (RS232) to USB converters at Avolites these days and plug the cables in as USB. They can be brought through our shop (http://www.avolitesshop.co.uk/acatalog/spare_parts.html), or alternatively you might be able to find them elsewhere online.

The hardware for the 2008 is the same as for the 2004 - still uses the Borris 3 and so on. It's essentially just a facelift. As for software, I'm personally not actually sure of what all the improvements are with it offhand - I've not been working on the Pearls at all - but if you talk to any of us ...
